Teen: Officer present when story concocted
WILKES-BARRE - Colin J. Walsh told jurors Thursday in the federal trial of three ex-Shenandoah policemen that one of that trio was present when he and the other teenagers who fatally beat an illegal Mexican immigrant the night before concocted a false story about the incident.
Jason Hayes was at the house of Brandon J. Piekarsky, the son of his then-girlfriend Tammy Piekarsky, who is now his fiancee, when Walsh and the other teens talked of how they would avoid the truth of the July 12, 2008, beating of Luis Eduardo Ramirez Zavala.
"We were talking about how we needed to get our stories straight," Walsh, 19, of Shenandoah Heights, told the eight female and four male jurors picked Thursday and Senior U.S. District Judge A. Richard Caputo.....
