Tea Parties Expose Religious Right's Racist Roots

The religious right would love to forget about the fact that it was basically founded by a group of racists who actually paid the KKK for their mailing list in order to recruit new members. And after several years of trying to put their racist history behind them, they've managed to unearth it once again by aligning themselves with the racist tea party movement. Mike Papantonio talks about the racist roots of the Religious Right, as well as the new racism emerging within the GOP, with Michelle Goldberg, author of the new book "The Means of Reproduction: Sex, Power and the Future of the World."

Opposition to abortion obviously is misogynistic, but it also has racist intent. Some Christian Right leaders like Pat Buchanan and Adolph Hitler openly opposed abortions because of their desire to force white women to have more white babies. For most of the rest of the fundamentalists, it's subtext.
